IV Sedation

Intravenous sedation involves the administration of medications into the blood stream that induce a state of deep sedation. Many patients will have experienced this type of sedation while having their wisdom teeth removed. Although you are still conscious, you have the feeling of being “put to sleep” due to:

  • The medications causing a state of deep relaxation
  • The medications have an amnesic effect.

A consultation appointment to evaluate your medical history is necessary before treatment if this type of sedation will be used.

IV sedation is administered and billed by a nurse anesthetist. Please, call our office to discuss fees. Unfortunately, in most cases, insurance does not cover this type of sedation unless you have a developmental disorder.
