For more significant anxiety, oral sedatives are an option. These are prescription medications taken before your appointment that do not “put you to sleep” but reduce anxiety by inducing a calming, relaxed and sometimes drowsy state. A separate consultation appointment is always necessary if oral sedatives will be used during your endodontic treatment so your medical history can be evaluated and the proper medication prescribed. In addition, since the effects of these medications begin before your appointment and do not wear off immediately, an escort is necessary to drive you to and from our office.
