Nitrous oxide, also referred to as “laughing gas”, provides a mild level of sedation and helps to alleviate some dental anxiety. The effect only lasts while you are breathing the gas so recovery after the procedure is quick and your ability to drive home is not impaired. As nitrous oxide gas does not react with any medications and since it has very few contraindications, a separate consultation appointment before treatment is not necessary.
